More Americans admitted to abusing alcohol than any other substance, reports the latest National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
Joseph Kuchenbuch sees it. The director of behavioral health services at Western Michigan University, Kuchenbuch said the most common addiction he and his colleagues see is alcohol.
“Alcohol is a big part of our society. It’s difficult to go throughout a day and not be exposed to advertising or involvement with alcohol in some way, shape or form,” Kuchenbuch said.
It’s also legal and accessible.
Kuchenbuck said all of those factors play into why alcohol is so heavily abused.
